Negative attitude? Often, when the words “
corporate team building” are mentioned, there can be a negative reaction from employees. The reason for this is that they may doubt your intentions, by thinking that you will be giving them tasks designed to humiliate. Or they may have had a bad experience in a similar situation before, either at school, college, or in a previous job. The way around this negative attitude is to explain fully to staff the purpose of your team building event. Let them know that it will not be a competition or exercise in humiliation, but rather a chance to work together as a team in an informal environment. Also make it clear that the situation can help you all form a better understanding of each other. It's not about winning or losing.
